If you have been in the clinic recently you will not be surprised to find out that I am super excited about the news I am about to share with you…

Face and Body have a new non-surgical treatment available for eye rejuvenation, the PLASMA IQ

The eyes are one of the first areas to show signs of ageing and were once one of the more difficult areas to treat, but thanks to constant advances in the aesthetic industry we can now offer several treatment options to help rejuvenate the eyes and the PLASMA IQ is delivering the fantastic results!  We introduced the treatment two months ago and the feedback we are receiving from our clients is amazing.

How does the PLASMA IQ work?

Here comes the scientific part (stick with me, it’s worth it).  PLASMA IQ works using non-ablative technology.  Plasma is formed through the ionisation of atmospheric gas, which works to stimulate the contraction, shortening and tightening of skin fibres, thus resulting in the reduction of skin surface.  It causes controlled skin damage which results in the healing process being kick started which means more collagen production and skin tightening - result!!

Why choose a PLASMA IQ treatment?

Studies show that by generating plasma, the PLASMA IQ maintains the vitality of the tissue much better than other methods of skin tightening or rejuvenation.  The probe we use is very small, therefore giving us excellent precision and ensuring that we can sculpt each patient eyelid and individualise treatment specifically for you.  We recommend 3 sessions (6 weeks apart) to achieve optimum results.  The treatment is cheaper than surgery, has less downtime (although there is approximately 3 days of downtime with this treatment, which I will get to shortly) and has none of the complications associated with surgery.  Results often last years or may be permanent.

What to expect during a plasma treatment

I will apply some numbing cream to the area being treated and leave it for approximately 30 minutes to ensure your comfort throughout.  Once the cream has been removed and the area has been cleaned, treatment can begin.  Your eyes will be closed, and I will start from the outside and work my way in.  You will feel a little “zap” at each point, it can feel a bit tingly, but the cream will reduce any discomfort.  You may smell some burning or warmth at the treated area, this is nothing to be concerned about, it’s the sublimation process at work.  The treatment takes 15-30 minutes and afterwards I will apply a soothing gel.

What to expect after a plasma treatment

Small brown micro-crusts will be visible at the area (can last up to 2 weeks) and swelling is to be expected afterwards (48-72 hours).  For this reason, we recommend around 3 days of downtime.  It is important that you don’t pick the micro-crusts as we want to avoid scarring and infection.  You can wear a mineral make-up on the area and it is imperative that you wear SPF following this treatment to protect the treated area.
